Belleview is at the south end of Marion County on the US-27/301/441 corridor, about 25 miles from our shop and roughly 40 minutes away. You can come straight up 441 through Ocala and pick up US-27 on the north side of town, but most people skip the lights: I-75 north from the CR-484 interchange (exit 341) to exit 354, then west on US-27.

Lake Weir and the south-county ramps

Lake Weir, just east of Belleview, is one of Marion County's biggest lakes — clear, sand-bottomed and busy all summer with ski boats, pontoons and bass boats. The Carney Island park ramp is where a lot of them go in. Lake Weir is fresh water, but the trailers still take it hard: hot hubs dunked in cool water pull water past the seals, and lights that aren't sealed short out. Lake Weir is pontoon water, and pontoon trailers have their own weak spots. The long bunks under each tube stay wet and rot, bunk brackets bend when a boat gets loaded off-center, and the wide fenders and corner lights take hits on narrow ramps. Ski and wake boats bring heavier loads and more frequent launches. We replace bunks and carpet, straighten or rebuild brackets, and move lights to where they stop getting knocked off.
